Choose a community meeting or event to attend and report back
on. Or you can add an event/meeting for others to cover. Call ahead and introduce yourself, confirm meeting date, time and location. (see destinations)
Attend the event, talk to people, talk to organizers, find out
what is happening. Sample questions about the neighborhood, the
schools, the city (click here for interview ideas). Take notes;
if you find someone with a really interesting story or situation, ask for their full name and contact numbers.
Report back. Here's how: Call us at 415-264-7106 and leave a
detailed voice message (remember, it's for air, so if you need to call back and re-record, feel free!). Leave your number in case we need to call you back. (Click here to download sample scripts). State your name, and tell us where you went. Then tell us what you learned, report back on trends you noticed, and let us know what surprised you most. Then, if you want to, you can add a blogpost about your experience.
